An MDM Geneve watch looks like no other on earth. Its designer Carlo Crocco was born into the dynastic Milanese watch company Binda. Binda represents the ultimate in Italian design, beauty and function, controlling most of the watch distribution in Italy. Consumed by a revolutionary watch concept Carlo Crocco left the family business. A very unorthodox design burned in his imagination. His idea was so radical that it took one million dollars to design the watch band alone. His dream came to fruition when he moved to Switzerland to start the MDM Geneve watch company. Crocco envisioned a luxury, high end, designer time piece that was lightweight, hip and sporty. To give his creation life, Crocco developed a self molding concept rubber to use in the indestructible band. 1980 saw the birth of precious gold and rubber merged in a waterproof wonder, the Hublot (porthole) watch. Crocco never looked back!
In 2009 his watch designs are just as radical and groundbreaking. His latest offering is called, “The Big Bang,” and is it ever! There are several models and colors. Big Bang Apple has green baguette Tsavorite stones on the bezel, a white dial, gold hands, a transparent back case and a green alligator strap. Big Bang Black Apple is striking black ceramic and black gold, with nickel hands, and a transparent back. Both have the HUB 4300 automatic movement, and water resistant to 100 feet. Big Bang Earl Gray, is gray, on brushed stainless steel, has a Tantalum dial, 114 small diamonds grace the bezel, and a strap choice of, grey alligator, or articulated steel, and a HUB 1145 automatic chronograph 37 jewel (ruby) movement.
2009 brings another innovation, the Hublot WiseKey. WiseKey is a smart card that authenticates real Hublot timepieces and weeds out replica watches. A Hublot watch is an expensive timepiece.
